Prince Charming was bred by Syd Emmerson a former CBHS Council Member & Stud Book Editor. He was purchased as a foal by Janet Spencer.

As a youngster he was shown in hand with considerable success. He was granted a CBHS Premium for five consecutive years after which he was withdrawn from the scheme.

Under saddle he competed in dressage, show jumping, combined training , hunter trials and one day events.

He was the first CB to be performance tested. This was an assessment independent of his breed society conducted by NaSta (National Stallion Association). He attained a Grade I. As a stallion he has covered mares of various types and breeds. To these he has consistently sired quality stock that have inherited his good looks, sensible temperament and athletic ability. His progeny compete with success in Hunter and Sport Horse classes and prove to be versatile under saddle on the flat and over fences.

Two pure bred sons standing in the UK (Mysticfold Charming Boy and Lindon Principal) have been awarded CBHS Premiums. He also has a pure bred son (Stoneridge Bendigalla) standing in USA .

In 2000/2001 Prince Charming went back to school – this time as a teacher rather than a student -when he was loaned to De Montfort University (now Lincoln University) to help launch their breeding unit. He took an active part in university life taking part in group lessons in addition to his stud work. His superb temperament enabled students to see for themselves that a properly handled stallion can be a working horse, and that whilst it must be treated with respect, it does not have to be feared or kept in isolation.

In 2004 Prince Charming was nominated by the CBHS for the RBST (Rare Breeds Survival Trust) Regeneration Project, a scheme which was effectively set up to create a semen bank of horses on the Trust’s Endangered List. 55% of semen collected is stored in a national archive. It is envisaged this will not be used except in an emergency. 30% is for conservation breeding and can be accessed with the consent of the Breed Society, The Trust and Stallion Owner. The remaining 15% is for the stallion owners private use.

Prior to the collection of semen for this special project Prince Charming had semen collected and frozen and this is available for use WORLWIDE. It is currently stored in UK, USA and Australia.
